Catalyzing Common Ground Using the Commonway Process

Hosted by Philip Hellmich
With Dr. Shariff Abdullah

Drawing on experiences in over 120 cultures, Shariff Abdullah has learned that creating peace means changing perspectives. Internationally, Shariff helped the warring parties in Sri Lanka to move from the "War Story" to the "Peace Story", achieving a stable cease fire (from 2001 to 2007). Domestically, Shariff has helped many individuals and organizations gain an understanding of “Deep Identity” and the five “Foundational Values”.

In This Session:

  • Diversity, equity and inclusion are important, but are not sufficient to achieve a peaceful society.
  • To move into a deeper societal peace and understanding, we need to see and understand Deep Identity and Deep Conflict (our earliest form of identity).
  • 1. For true peace, we need an understanding of five “Foundational Values”: 1.1. inclusivity (We are One), 1.2. collective responsibility and empowerment, 1.3. authenticity, 1.4. consciousness, and vision-driven action
